Why Starfrit Heritage The Rock Is The Best Cookware Set Built To Last

I never thought it mattered when it came to cooking what kind of pots and pans I used. What did I care? Just so long as the ones I had cooked the food and did the job. Little did I know, the type of cookware you use is just as important as the food you are cooking. That’s why today I”m sharing with you guys why Heritage The Rock by Starfrit is the best cookware set built to last!

When they say not all cookware is built the same. They aren’t lying to you. It’s true, and with so many choices out there from affordable to insanely expensive, it’s no wonder finding the right set is difficult when choosing the right pots and pans to fit your needs.

My love of the Heritage the Rock cookware began when my parents purchased me a Starfrit The Rock Electric One Pot for Christmas.

I wanted a one pot because of all the things you can cook with it from soups to chili to hubby’s favorite – stir-fry. I mean who wouldn’t love the convenience of cooking in just one pot?

I instantly fell in love with my electric one pot from Starfrit and the classic pebbled (Rock) design, along with how easy it was to clean and cook with, especially since I love making homemade Chinese food, and I highly recommend adding this one pot to your collection. You can saute veggies, do up chicken, make chow mein and so much more.

I was cleaning my one pot when I said to my husband how great it would be to have an entire set made of this Rock pattern where nothing sticks to it.

You can’t imagine how wonderful it was to discover Starfrit not only has a variety of sets from 8 to 10 pieces but also a reversible griddle for a variety of cooking styles and needs which is going to be the next purchase on my list!

Here I’m cooking chicken, rice and corn. I love the way the set looks. The Rock.Tec pattern looks and feels like pebbled stones. Yet it washes like a breeze!

Why Heritage the Rock Is The Best Cookware

The Rock cookware set is the best not just because I say it is. Almost everyone I know has a set and loves it, but there are many other reasons as to why we all love it so much. Here are just a few.

  • The Rock uses patented Rock.Tec manufacturing process creating a rock-like finish that is solid and reliable.
  • Outstanding release performance, 3 times better than any traditional non-stick cookware.
  • Has a thick (but not overly heavy) base with strong stainless steel handles.
  • 3 coat non-stick system so food won’t get stuck to the bottom for you to scrape off.
  • Super easy to clean (just wipe and go).
  • Scratch resistant so yes you can use metal utensils with it.
  • Tempered glass lids with a steam release.
  • Oven friendly up to 450 degrees (use oven mitts) for extra care.
  • Dishwasher safe. Though I recommend washing by hand to keep certain detergents from wrecking the outer coating.

Now aside from fact that the Rock cookware set is one of the easiest sets ever to clean, and I mean so easy you will cry wondering where this amazing cookware has been all your life. I just simply wipe most everything away using medium temperature water and a cloth which doesn’t leave it greasy and super clean for the next time I cook.

The Rock cookware is also fast, providing even heat distribution when cooking anything. I love that you don’t have to cook on high but only medium, and you don’t have to wait forever for things to get started.

One of the coolest features is water comes to a rolling boil (no splashing) which is awesome when doing up pasta and all without using oil or butter because of the Rock’s non-stick technology.

My favorite though is cooking eggs. I hated cooking eggs with my old set of pots and pans. Eggs would always stick to the bottom of my frying pan, never cooking the way I like (unbroken yolk) and then later I’d have to add hot soapy water and let it sit just to get it clean.

With my new Heritage The Rock frying pan, I can say bye bye to broken yolks, cooking my over medium eggs just right until I’m ready to slide them onto my plate.

Why I love Heritage The Rock Cookware by Starfrit!

Heritage The Rock cookware collection is everything you will need to cook and more. It’s not your average cookware set. Let me tell you when I say, it’s the best thing I’ve ever used in my kitchen as I stated above using my 10-piece Heritage the Rock Cookware set.

And okay, I know I sound like an infomercial, don’t I? But I cannot contain my excitement about The Starfrit Heritage collection of the Rock which comes in a variety of styles from ceramic, stainless steel, one pot and classic which is the set I have and love.

When I watched the videos on ways to cook with this amazing technology Starfrit has created. I just knew I had to try it, and I couldn’t wait to share with you guys my honest opinion on it. You know I’m always honest, and I’m here to tell you that Heritage The Rock by Starfrit is the definitely something you have to try. You won’t be disappointed. I wasn’t, and I won’t ever go back to using anything else.

My Heritage The Rock cookware even came with a great warranty because Starfrit stands behind their products, and that makes the price you pay for anything from Starfrit worth it!

What is your favorite Starfrit product you’ve ever purchased?

Disclosure: I received a cookware set from Starfrit for the purpose of this review but in no way does it reflect or change my opinion. My opinion is 100% my own. If I don’t like something – I tell you about it.

It seems the the owners of the Starfrit brand have gone crazy coating everything and anything under the sun with this The Rock, non stick coating brand.

ALL non stick coatings on the market are terrible. Non have stood the test of time.

This is a product that makes you think you will have a nonstick product for a good while…which like the 1000’s of coatings and brands before it have NOT stood the test of time.

I will give them the benefit that the pans are decent quality if you take care of them and that the nonstick coating will not chip away or crack easily if you use NON METAL UTENSILS in them.

BUT THE NON-STICK DOES NOT LAST VERY LONG. The large Rock jumbo frying pan I had the nonstick performance
(ability for food not to stick)
lasted about 7 months with EXTREMELY LIGHT USE (about a few times for every 2 week period). And this is being very careful use, and no metal utensils.

The nonstick wont peel or crack ( like most nonstick these days), and like other nonstick, the nonstick doesn’t last very long. So its really not any different than the others.

Its just marketing junk by this company and the stores that carry it…like Canadian Tire.

The only pots and pans you would ever need that are good quality stainless steel (18/10), AND cast-iron.
If you want REAL NONSTICK THAT WOULD LAST you need to get cast iron…once seasoned properly its the only non stick that would lasts.

Buying any other kinds of pots and pans are a total waste of money.

I’m sorry to hear you had that experience Paul. I’m happy to say my Starfrit pan has lasted as have my pots and that is using metal utensils. They have not scratched or anything. The only issues I have is the bottom of the pot is dirty from my elements cause they are old (the elements) that is. You should have contacted Starfrit when your pan of 7 months didn’t work anymore because they have 5 and 10 year warranties.

I bought my rock cookwear almost 2 years ago and it’s all coming off on the inside of all the pots. I paid alit was f money for them. What a waste of money. Now I have to go out an buy a new set of cookwear. Back to the basic stainless steal is the only way to go.

I have just exchanged the second Heritage The Rock fry pan .In both previous one’s the base separated from the side of the pan .No problem exchanging it at Canadian Tire but now I am into the second year with another year left on the warranty .The warranty runs from when the first pan was purchased so if this one does the same as the two previous one’s I will be out of luck .Also found it the no stick only works if I use Pam or another non stick spray .

Often an issue people have with this set is they are cooking using a temperature that is too high. I’ve had my set for 2 years now and no issues. I never put it in the dishwasher. I don’t use harsh abrasives to clean it. I use metal on it and still have no problems. I had another one of their frying pans and cooked on it around 8 or 9 to get it hot and it wrecked the pan. You have to cook on medium only and was it in warm water with soap. Sorry you had issues hope this one is better for you.

Just a short note to say that I am throwing a $1000.00 worth of Heritage Rock cookware in the garbage. It is still under warranty. I cannot see replacing them with the same defective product and eating more of the coating.
Pots, pans, and roasters all going in the garbage.
The first two sets black outside surface, have a silver- aluminum ring on the bottom that when used in the dishwasher oxidizes and when set on a butcher block counter top leaves a nasty discoloration. So all those pots and pans need to be hand washed.
The third set are stainless outside which is an improvement, but the inside is still not durable.
The inside of all of the pots and pans have severe inside deterioration. This flaking is a concern considering the possible link between aluminum and dementia.
The lids on all have metal handles which require a insulated glove to remove when in use.
All three of my sons which purchased Heritage Rock on my recommendation have thrown theirs away. Same Reasons. So my recommendation is DO NOT purchase this product.

I’m sad you feel that way about your set. Both my son and parents have the Rock sets and we love them and have no issues with ours. My parents have had theirs for a year. We’ve had ours for the same. My son has had his for four years. The set comes with a 10 year warranty (the one I purchased) yours should have a warranty, instead of throwing them out, why not contact Starfrit and tell them your concerns. One thing people do with these sets though is cook on too high heat. Not sure if that is the case here but with the Rock set you need to cook on medium heat that is all that is required. And like all products, there can always be defects. I wish you the best of luck with your next set of pots and pans and thank you for sharing your opinion.

I found a set on Facebook marketplace for a great price but I don’t know how old they are and at what time frame I should say no to them. How old are yours?

Hey, Carla. My set is a year old. If you can get them cheaper I would get them, they last forever!

I just got my pan last month. Could it be possible the coating is peeling off onto my eggs? I saw black flakes. And now am seeing th me silver of the actual pan material on the pan. Is that normal wear and tear?

It is not normal and I would contact Starfrit especially if you have the rock collection because there is a warranty that comes with that pot and pan set. Let me know how it goes.

I bought a set of rock pots about 2 years ago and now the non stick stuff is coming off so not really impressed with this set and they were not cheap to buy. I think i paid over $500.00 and think i might just save my money and buy cheap onea again.

You should contact Starfrit Rob because ours came with a 10-year warranty. You’ve only had them 2 years. We’ve had no issues with the stuff coming off other than a little on the bottom burner which is to be expected. I also wash in coolish water and don’t use abrasives on my pots as they wipe out clean pretty much. But yeah, let Starfrit know they are not up to snuff.

This review came almost at the right time. I have been looking to get new wares and like you rightly wrote ‘not all cookwares are built same’. I will get those and trust they would deliver as reviewed.
    Nice kitchen, by the way
