How To Set Up Your Office Space On A Budget

With school just around the corner, one of the things on my summer bucket list was to set up a new office for myself before the kids venture to their classrooms.  A few weeks ago I wrote a post on items that caught my eye to help me do just that. We don’t have a ton of money, so budgeting was important when choosing things I wanted.

My first and only place to go was Ikea. I love Ikea, not only because they items that are affordable and won’t break the bank, but also because their storage solutions are just beyond and you can really create something that will work for you.

We ventured to Ikea last week and FD and I finally settled on few items that would fit not only wallets but the space we were looking to convert.  We knew we wanted a long desk, at least 6 and half feet long. We wanted something durable and easy to wash, so the boys could also use the space.  Plus two office chairs that wouldn’t break the bank.

The desk was only $69 from Ikea. We then purchased a long bar to run along the top on the wall with red accent cups that were only .99 cents each. I wanted red accents against the white because that is what is in our kitchen and I wanted the color schemes to flow.  Next I purchased a small white ceramic plant holder with a fake plant to add some color and fun to hang on the bar. We added in two red office chairs which were on sale for $10 bucks each.

I am super thrilled with the overall appearance of the office and the kids love it!  Now we have a great workspace where mommy can blog and Trace can colour or JJ can do his homework. There is no more mess on my dining room table which is great and the office space is not facing the television which leads to distraction – ahem I’m famous for watching CSI when I should be working LOL

I still have a few more things to get to help make the space more storage friendly, but for now this will have to do. We spent in total $150 which isn’t bad for everything.

Tell me what you think. Chime in below and leave us your opinions. We’d love to hear from you!
