New OPI Matte Top Coat

by Jodi Shaw

Matte is the New black!  And man I love this OPI Matte Top Coat from my friends at OPI more than I could even share with you. I’m giddy with excitement in fact that it is coming soon April 2013.

“OPI Matte Top Coat is a matte finish can be worn over any OPI nail lacquer shade and should be applied after the base coat and primary coats of color to give nails a unique look,” says Suzi Weiss- Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder VP & Artistic Director. “Using Matte Top Coat to transform any shade in your collection makes it a more versatile and budget-friendly way to embrace the matte trend. Give your favorite lacquers an update with a new finish without altering the color.”

OPI Matte Top Coat instantly transforms glossy nail lacquer to a matte finish when applied over any OPI hue, providing a sealing protection without the added shine.  It protects nails from chipping, making the lacquer last longer.  With a matte, transparent finish, Matte Top Coat is designed to leave nails velvety smooth and creates a touchable texture for an edgy appearance.

Plain but Pretty!

I used the OPI Matte Top Coat over my french manicure. I hate french nails that are glossy because to me it makes them seem so fake looking. Using the OPI Matte Top Coat made my nail look so natural and clean. I just loved it!  It dries instantly and looks great, especially with various designs.

What Else Can I Do With OPI Matte Top Coat?

See the black nails in the top image. Well you can create those, too!  That’s what is so fantastic about using the Matte Top Coat from OPI. You aren’t just limited to making your nails a simple and clean matte finish. You can mix it up by creating unique nails that will turn heads.

The Matte Checkerboard

1. Apply OPI Natural Nail Base Coat. Let dry.
2. Polish on 2 coats of OPI Black Onyx. Allow to dry.
3. Tape off a checkerboard pattern on your nail.
4. Apply OPI Matte Top Coat to the exposed squares.
5. Remove tape to reveal your design.

The Matte V

1. Apply OPI Natural Nail Base Coat. Let dry.
2. Polish on 2 coats of OPI Black Onyx. Allow to dry.
3. Tape off a v-shape at the base of your nail and apply OPI Matte Top Coat to the exposed triangle shape.
4. Remove tape to reveal your design.

The Matte Candy Stripes

1. Apply OPI Natural Nail Base Coat. Let dry.
2. Polish on 2 coats of OPI Black Onyx. Allow to dry.
3. Use a thin nail art brush or clean liquid eyeliner brush to create stripes with Matte Top Coat.

The Matte Leopard

1. Apply OPI Natural Nail Base Coat. Let dry.
2. Polish on 2 coats of OPI Black Onyx. Allow to dry.
3. Use a nail art brush or toothpick to dab on spots of OPI Matte Top Coat.

The Matte Stripe

1. Apply OPI Natural Nail Base Coat. Let dry.
2. Polish on 2 coats of OPI Black Onyx. Allow to dry.
3. Polish on one coat of OPI Matte Top Coat. Allow to dry.
4. With a thin nail art brush, paint a thin line of Black Onyx down the center of your nail.

There is something just super fun to do and thanks to my friends at OPI, they are constantly keeping our nails fun and funky, sweet and sensual, shiny and natural looking!

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old

daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her

ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and

it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!

LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
