As a romance author with cowboy plots and bull riding hotties, I’ve never actually seen professional bull riding up close and in action. I’ve only ever watched it on television, but seeing it live is something that has been on my bucket list of “TO DO” items for a long time.
This October right after my birthday, I get to fulfill that dream and mark it off my list because the PBR Canada’s Elite Monster Energy Tour Is Coming Back to Abbotsford, and you don’t want to miss it!
I can’t wait to see the Monster Energy Tour which features some of the biggest names in bull riding. The league’s top international athletes, squaring off against the meanest bucking bulls from the nation. This is no joke. Bull riding is extremely dangerous and these guys are nuts for facing off against their 2,000-pound opponents.
Some big-name riders I’m looking forward to seeing are Lonnie West (Alberta) who went 2-for-2 in the Valley and captured his first-ever PBR win ranking the West from No. 10 to No. 5 in the national standings. The other is Zane Lambert (Alberta) and Jared Parsonage (Maple Creek) These guys tied for second and are currently ranked No. 2 and No. 3 as both riders went a flawless 2-for-2 at the event, marking the tour’s last regular-season stop before the Monster Energy Canadian Finals.
My husband has always been a big fan of bull riding. He loves the exhilaration of watching these guys perform as they aim for their 8-second rides but there are wrecks along the way.
The event promises to be action-packed and I’m sure it will. You can’t watch men ride these amazing bulls without feeling that rush of adrenaline on whether or not they will get hurt or hit their mark for the ride of their life!
Ranked No. 1 in the nation is Brock Radford (Albert) don’t you just love the sound of his name. He sounds like a bad-ass bull rider. Brock made history in 2017 finishing just short of capturing his first national title and was ninth last season in Abbotsford.
This is Monster Energy Tour’s third trip to Abbotsford. This stop, however, is marked with significance as the league brings fans the toughest sport on dirt celebrating its 26th anniversary.
Each rider has the opportunity to earn added prize money, and the stop will award $20,000, along with increased points, with the event winner netting 120 world points. That’s super exciting.
How Can You Attend The Event?
Trace is twelve years old and he cannot wait to watch this event. He’s been telling all his friends. It’s a one-day event only and tickets for the event are on sale now.
Hubby and I are going to have our jeans and cowboy hats on when the event starts at 7:00 pm, Saturday, October 13 at the Abbotsford Centre. Each rider will attempt one bull each in round one. Then the top 10 advances to the Championship Round where they will fight to unleash the beast!
Abbotsford is the 7th stop on the final regular-season of the 2018 Monster Energy Tour schedule. There are eight stops in total with visits to seven provinces that include travel to Calgary, Ottawa, Quebec City, Halifax, Moncton and Kelowna with the Canadian Finals being presented by Mac’s/CircleK and Dakota Dunes Casino in Saskatchewan. That’s where the Canadian Champ will get his bull riding crown.
Make sure you pin this for later or bookmark this post for reference and please share this with all your friends who are bull riding fans.
I’m going to be posting images on my Facebook page during the event and I cannot wait to watch these guys in action. I’m so stoked for this!
Have you ever seen bull riding in person?
