Miami Fun – An Enjoyable Day Out

Miami may be home to a population of almost half a million, but the extra millions of visitors per year are what arguably makes it one of Florida’s most popular vacation spots. Many of these people are vacationing families who come to enjoy the beaches, the sunny weather and the sightseeing options.

With the sheer wealth of activities and attractions on offer in Miami it’s not too hard to figure out why this city hits high as a popular family vacation hotspot.

Enjoying the sunshine in Miami

On average, Miami receives a blissful 300 sunny days per year for people to enjoy the beaches, state parks and nearby tropical islands. This is tremendous news for families. These outdoors activities can dramatically decrease your vacation spending.

Sure, you’ll have to pay for a tour around the fascinating Everglades National Park and there will be a fare for glass-bottom boat trips to Key West or Key Largo, but these minimal ticket prices are offset by the free beaches. From vibrant South Beach to the Caribbean-like Sunny Isles to the beaches, carousels and seahorse fountains at the Crandon Park Amusement Center in beautiful Key Biscayne — this is a destination for people who like to be outdoors.

Thrills of the famous theme parks

If you’re on a family vacation and like wildlife, you may hear the name Jungle Island mentioned more than once by them. This attraction has been drawing in the crowds for 75 years and is so large that it contains its own private beach.

Children will love the parrot shows and the chance to get up close to tigers, orangutans, penguins, chimpanzees and even snakes. Jungle Island Miami even boasts an area that replicates the Everglades Park as well as boasting a giant Flamingo lake, a lion’s den and a Koi Fish lake complete with waterfall.

Indoors fun

Kids will be in heaven at the Miami Children’s Museum in the downtown city area. This interactive venue features loads of activities, including the opportunity to create music in a studio, present a television news show, ride police motorcycles, play in a replica village or look after some pets.

Another fascinating museum is History Miami, which features a range of cultural exhibitions, plus walking, biking and coach tours around the city to historic neighborhoods and landmark sites. Don’t miss a chance to visit the Museum of Science, which features two telescopes for night-sky gazing and a planetarium with a spectacular laser show as well as exhibits including the chance to step inside a Hurricane Hunter airplane.

These are just a few of the highlights available on a trip to Miami and kids will no doubt also love the funfairs with roller coasters and the always popular Santa’s Enchanted Forest theme park. The beaches will always be a natural attraction, but explore a little further and you’ll find plenty of attractions to keep the family fully entertained.
