How To Stay Organized In Life

The New Year is here, but if you are like me then you already know it’s going to be hard to do your goals, at least not without help. For us moms staying organized is important especially when we are running busy households. So here are some tips for you moms stay organized while removing the clutter from your lives.

Make a List & Check it Twice!

As a mom I find it more and more difficult to not only be organized but to stay organized and manage things. So I find making a list for all the things I need to do helps me keep things in order, so I can find quality time for family, friends, myself along with my hobbies and dreams.

Set A Time Limit on Things: Help Spend Time Where You Should.

Making a time-table for yourself and following it is a great organizing skill. We often set tasks for ourselves but never give ourselves an end date for achieving our goals. For example perhaps you are spending too much time on the computer. So set aside an allotted time for that task, giving yourself time away from the computer as well to do other things that need to be done.

You can schedule a proper time-table for anything. Kids sports, exercising, dishes, laundry days, play time with little ones, date night and more. Giving yourself a time frame helps you do the goals you want to do while balancing your time in a more productive way.

Out with the old – In with the New!

Many of us have a hard time letting things go. My husband is famous for holding onto things. Whether it’s for sentimental reasons, or we think we might use it later. Eventually we find our homes and lives filled with clutter from things we just don’t throw away. But today you can de-clutter your life and start this new year off right. My thing is if you don’t use it you lose it. That’s what I tell my family. Why keep something in drawers, on shelves, in boxes if they aren’t being used and enjoyed. And de-cluttering doesn’t mean throwing it away. You can always do the 3 R’s — Reuse, Re-purpose or Recycle. Either way you are getting rid of the clutter to help make life and your home more organized and simplified.

Make Time for You!

It’s the number one thing us mom’s don’t do. We don’t make time for ourselves. Between taking care of the kids, our spouses, family members, working and what not. Mom’s tend to lose themselves in the mix. You can’t expect to organize your life if you don’t make time for yourself to rejuvenate.

Start walking to improve your health. Get your nails done at a salon. Make that hair appointment you’ve always wanted to. And if you are on a budget, you can always find amazing deals at discount stores and shops especially online. Look for online coupon sites that offer discounts, promos and coupons for the businesses or items you want and need. A great place to start is Chameleon John.  No matter what site you use though, do it for you!  Buy that new dress, new shoes, or have lunch with just the girls. It’s a YOU adventure and YOU are worth it!

  1. An eye-opener Jodi! Your tips were very practical. Come to think of it, I keep on organizing things over and over without having some me-time. I will investigate on Chameleon John!

  2. Excellent tips! I am always trying to write things down in lists to remember, to-do’s and whatnots. I always end up with a bunch of post-its all over my office and fridge. As for taking time for ourselves, its an absolute! We can’t do our best when we aren’t at our best right! Thanks for sharing your insights! 🙂

    1. Omg I have post-it’s too Alyssa, like everywhere. Hubby sometimes grabs them and puts them on my forehead making fun of me. He writes : Remember Me as in remember to take care of myself, too. LOL
