Friday fav’s Feb edition #1

It’s the weekend! Man, it’s been a very long week. I didn’t get a chance to blog much as we are all very sick right now with the flu. I got it first and then Corey, and then Trace got it and spent most of his time in bed (missing school) not that he minded, of course. I hate having a cold. Feeling run down, lethargic and just having no energy to do anything. It really sucks big time!

Still, the week wasn’t a total wash. I got to spend some time online trolling Facebook Marketplace, my absolute favorite place to shop for stuff right now. I picked up a few items for the house which brought joy to my life. One of which was my big black pig. You gotta see him. He’s bigger than my dog Harley (a Yorkie) and is sitting on my table right now.

My big beautiful pig. I can’t have a real one so this will have to do.

I also discovered a love for Rae Dunn products.

Yeah, I know I’m behind the times. Rae Dunn has been out for a few years but I never saw it before. Being that we are turning our apartment into a small farmhouse and I was looking for decor items. When I came across the beautifully warped pottery Miss Dunn creates, needless to say, I was instantly hooked!

I went to Homesense because I was in search for a few items including the coffee and tea canister, teapot and of course some mugs. I managed to score a cream and sugar set for only $12 bucks, and a 2 pack mug set DREAMER & SUNSHINE, plus I bought 2 more mugs HELLO & HAPPY and they were also $12 bucks.

I also picked myself up a hot & cold stainless steel water bottle that says SIP on it. Mind you it should say GULP with how much water I’ve been drinking lately. The water bottle cost more than the coffee mugs which makes no sense to me at all. It was $16 bucks.

Despite being ill this week, Corey and I got busy knocking a few things off our TO-DO list for the house. Sometimes I wish I could snap my fingers and just have everything done, but then I know that would just take all the fun out of it. One particular project that is slow going is the revamping of our hallway closet when you first walk into the apartment.

It’s not perfect but it’s a start. A nice white bench and some paint and I’ll be happy with welcoming our guests with a place to sit, put their shoes and hang up their jackets.

From day one I hate it. The door never fit right. So we decided to take the door off and create a more functional space. We still have to get a nice bench to go inside and put some crown molding around it. Plus I have to paint the shelf. But overall I’m happy with the initial start.

We also picked up some cheap shelves from Dollarama to put in our bathroom so I could put the mason jars I painted on them to hold our toothbrushes, toothpaste, nail clippers and tweezers, brushes and whatnot. I’m happy to have found such a cheap solution to us having no drawers or much space in our tiny bathroom.

Speaking of Dollarama… they have so many cute ideas and things to buy to make or use for home decor. I’m in love with our local store. Like this wooden tissue box I grabbed unpainted. I added some white craft paint and used a sharpie to write on the front, creating a beautiful tissue box for my bathroom for when guests come over.

All in all we got quite a bit of stuff done. I wish we could’ve done more but this cold is kicking our asses. Corey has been sleeping lots. While I’m not sleeping much at all because aside from being sick I also managed to fracture my wrist this past week and it’s been hurting something fierce. I’m so glad the weekend is here. I’m going to rest and relax and do nothing else until Monday rolls around.

On to this weeks Fav’s

  1. Salt & Pepper Shakers
  2. Rae Dunn Measuring Spoons
  3. Best Ever Coffee Maker
  4. Cute Corner Desk
  5. Tractor Clock
  6. Sherpa Jacket Women’s
  7. Def Leppard Hysteria Vinyl
  8. HP Wave Desktop
  9. Big Activity Book for Couples
  10. Coffee Bar Shelf

I don’t know about you but I’m feeling more inspired after that list. My favorite item is the metal coffee bar shelf which I’m saving my pretty pennies for to above my coffee station. I love the little baskets for tea, hot chocolate, filters for coffee and what not.

I’m also in love with the cute corner farm style desk. I am looking for a small desk to my new HP Wave on. And speaking of the wave, you have to check it out! It’s the most unique desktop I’ve ever owned. Not at all like a normal computer.

Happy Weekend!
