February Friday Fav’s

It’s the weekend! Man, it’s been a very long week. I didn’t get a chance to blog much as we are all very sick right now with the flu. I got it first and then Corey, and then Trace got it and spent most of his time in bed (missing school) not that he minded, of course.

I hate having a cold. Feeling run down, lethargic and just having no energy to do anything. It really sucks big time! Still, the week wasn’t a total wash. I got to spend some time online trolling Facebook Marketplace, which has become my absolute favorite place to shop for stuff right now.

I picked up a few items for the house which brought joy to my life. One of which was my big black pig. You gotta see him. He’s bigger than my dog Harley (a Yorkie) and is sitting on my table right now.

I also discovered a love for Rae Dunn products. Yeah, I know I’m behind the times. Rae Dunn has been out for a few years but I never saw it before.

Being that we are turning our apartment into a small farmhouse, I am always on the lookout for special decor items. When I came across the beautifully warped pottery Miss Dunn creates,I was instantly hooked!

I went to Homesense because I was in search for a few items including the coffee and tea canister, teapot and of course some mugs. I picked up a 2 pack mug set DREAMER & SUNSHINE, plus I bought 2 more mugs HELLO & HAPPY $12 bucks a set. I also managed to score a CREAM & SUGAR set for only $12 bucks to go on my coffee bar.

I also picked myself up a hot & cold stainless steel water bottle that says SIP on it. Mind you it should say GULP with how much water I’ve been drinking lately.

The water bottle holds 17 ounces of water and is great because it keeps my ice cold for days. I have to have ice in my water.

I was surprised though the water tumbler cost more than the coffee mugs which makes no sense to me at all. The tumbler was $16 bucks.

Sorry, the pic is blurry my smartphone hasn’t figured out how to clean its own lens yet.

Despite being ill this week, Corey and I got busy knocking a few things off our TO-DO list for the house. Sometimes I wish I could snap my fingers and just have everything done, but then I know that would just take all the fun out of it. One particular project that is slow going is the revamping of our hallway closet when you first walk into the apartment.

From day one I hated our entrance closet. The door on it never fit right. So, I decided to take the door off and create a more functional space. I am still looking for a nice entrance bench but this one from my son’s room holds all the shoes inside of it. Plus, I need to get nicer hooks and paint the top shelf white.

Speaking of shelves. I picked these two white shelves up from Dollarama for my bathroom for four dollars. Aren’t they cute? 2 shelves for 4 bucks, you can’t go wrong. They look more expensive than they are, but are made out of polyresin material making them easy to wash.

The shelves are cheap but perfect to hold the mason jars I painted for our toothbrushes, tweezers, nail clippers plus some odds and ends. An affordable solution don’t you think? This way I save space, especially since we don’t have a drawer in our bathroom or vanity to hold the everyday bathroom items we need.

I love Dollarama. They have so many great decor options and DIY ideas to help spruce up your home on a dime. Take this tissue box for example. I bought this wooden box unpainted. I grabbed some white crafting paint and a black sharpie, and I went to work.

Here is the final result…

I think it turned out pretty great. I’m going to put Varathane on it to protect it, but now I have a nice tissue box my guests can use when they come over.

All in all, I would say we got quite a bit of fun stuff done this week. I wish I didn’t have this cold kicking my ass. Everyone has been sleeping so much. I’m glad the weekend is here. I’m going to relax and think of other things I can do to stay busy and brighten up our home.
