I remember as a kid growing up my dad getting down on the floor to play with me. I also remember one of the first girl toys my dad put together to play with me was Barbie’s First Camper. I loved that thing. It had everything I ever wanted. A place for Barbie to sleep. A place for her to dress, and even cook. A portable house on wheels. It was great!
What was even better though was the fact that although I had two brothers growing up, my dad always made time to play with me.
Dads who make playtime with their daughter’s an important part of their parental role help to create confident girls.
That’s why when I heard about the #DadsWhoPlayBarbieChallenge, I just knew I had to share it with you guys.
The Barbie video makes me cry. It reminds me of seeing my dad on the sidelines at my soccer games, playing dress-up with me, and helping me with my dance routines. Barbie has it right.
Time spent in her imaginary world is an investment in her real one.
And it’s oh-so-true!
