Best spots to picnic in the Fraser Valley

There’s nothing like a family picnic in the summer. We love to hop in the jeep, take a tour and find a nice spot where we can sit, eat and play in the water.  I’m always on the look out for places to go, and what food to bring with us when we do.  Health Canada gave me some great tips for packing a picnic kids will love!

Rolly Lake

Nestled between hiking trails and a beautiful waterfall, Rolly Lake is a great spot to swim, picnic and visit. Less than an hours drive from Vancouver, located (13.8 miles) northwest of Mission, BC. Take Highway 7 to Maple Ridge and turn north at 287th Street. Turn right onto Dewdney Trunk Road and then turn left onto Bell Street and drive north to the park.

Davis Lake

Davis Lake is a provincial Park located east of the southern end of Stave Lake and northeast of Mission.  There’s a campground, beaches and the water is warm enough to swim allowing walk-in only. There is also a bird habitat and McDonald falls.

Golden Ears

One of the largest provincial parks in BC – Golden Ears is stunning. There are tables and charcoal BBQ’s you can make use of, trails and Alouette lake is a great spot for swimming.
