8 Ways To Stay Healthy While Traveling

Whenever I travel I usually end up getting sick, which puts a damper on my vacation. So this year, I decided to take action, doing things to help keep myself on top of things using these 8 Ways to stay healthy while travelling this summer.

#1. Eating Healthy

Cut up fruits and vegetables, lean meats for protein, low sugar snacks and homemade nut mixes with dried fruits are easy to enjoy and pack. Eating right is one of the most important things you can do to stay healthy to help keep your body and your digestive system flowing right.

#2. Make Sure Your Immunizations Are Up To Date

Not everyone gets immunized, but our family does. Being that my son has disabilities and my hubby has no spleen, it’s important for them to have their shots up to date, especially when we travel. You never know when an outbreak of something might occur, so veering on the end of caution is better to be prepared.

#3. Bring Along Some Probiotics For When Eating Less than Healthy, Greasy Foods

I’d love to say don’t do it, but we all have. I won’t deny that while travelling, it’s so much easier to stop at some fast food joint and order something. The problem is, both hubby, son and I always feel like crap afterwards. We always need some type of enzyme for our digestive system, because fast, fatty foods go right through us. At home I take probiotics to help, but on the go it’s hard. Not anymore. Ultimate Flora Probiotic Critical Care 50 Billion Go Pack from Renew life doesn’t have to be refrigerated. It’s great for gassy tummy’s and digestive problems, releasing 50 billion live cultures that are dairy, gluten, and soy free. So really perfect for anyone who dabbles in a less than healthy eating experience like we all do from time to time.

#4. Drink Lots of Water

I cannot stress the importance of drinking water while travelling. If you are in a country where you can’t drink the water, have water on hand. Keeping the body hydrated prevents things like migraines, skin conditions, sun stroke, tummy upsets and more. Pick up some water bottles, fill them with ice and water, then fill a jug to take with you for top ups.

#5.Be Prepared and Avoid a Cold

When travelling, I always carry vitamins and supplements with me in case a cold comes on. The sooner I can boost my immune system and catch things, the better. Local health stores carry things you can use but look for these key ingredients: Oregano, Ginger, Echinacea. These t hings will help fight your cold and get you back on your feet faster.

#6. Get Enough Sleep

Getting sleep while travelling isn’t easy. But getting enough sleep is vastly important to help keep the body healthy. Bring pillows and blankets from home, anything to give you the sleep your body needs. This includes items for children. Sleep is important as it helps boost our immune systems and a lack of sleep leaves an open door for colds and flues to attack.

#7. Keep Yourself Sun Protected

I know you’ve heard it a million times. Keep yourself sun protected, but it’s true. The sun can cause damage to your skin cells, changing and altering them, and without protection or the use of proper sunscreen in the products you use, you run the risk of exposure and long term affects the sun offers.

#8. Have Fun!

It’s a known fact that stress is the leading cause to many breakdowns within our body. So when you’re travelling or on vacation, keep stress to a minimum. You might lose your luggage, blow a tire, kids might act up, money might be tight. But don’t stress it. Just remember you are on an adventure and every adventure has pitfalls around the corner. So go with the flow, enjoy yourself and don’t sweat the small stuff!
