We know him as Mr. O Canada. The man who performs the national anthem before the start of every Vancouver Canucks game, getting the crowd involved as hockey lovers and fans everywhere join him with the singing of O’Canada. Mark Donnelly is a traditional icon. But this father of 9 has something else he’d like to share. The Vancouver Canucks anthem singer and his daughter Colleen Donnelly will be bringing Christmas Cheer to a good cause for the Fraser Valley this holiday season.
This special event is being coordinated by Hung Vuong with the proceeds going directly to the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation. Hung and his wife at the time Debra experienced what no parent should, a baby with complications after birth, and it was the staff and doctors at Langley Memorial that saved their son’s life. Today their son Justin is a happy and healthy 18 year old according to an article about the event in the Langley Times.
“It’s going to be an event that is absolutely the highlight of the Christmas season,” Hung said. “There will be a beautiful theme of ‘White Christmas’ where there will be a grand piano on stage with nine Christmas trees. It’s all going to be white, so it will be very beautiful.”
Both my husband and I know what it is like to put your child in the hands and care of strangers. Strangers who neither know you or your child, and yet go above and beyond to figure out what might be going wrong. Our son Trace was born with various medical issues. If it wasn’t for the good doctors and nurses striving for his care, we never would have been able to give him the help he needed.
Mark and his daughter Colleen, both with beautiful and engaging voices will be serenading us for a once in a lifetime concert that hosts a string of holiday classics which they will perform.
Tickets for the evening are $45 and include the concert, a delicious array of appies and desserts, cash bar, silent auction with amazing prizes and even a visit from Santa himself! You can purchase tickets here.

Mark Donnelly Tribute to Pat Quinn. Donnelly brings tears to the eyes of everyone giving a heartfelt tribute to one of the Vancouver Canucks greatest. I can’t wait to hear him sing White Christmas with his amazing voice.
Hung and his family believe in giving support to the community. In organizing this concert he hopes more people take a leading role to what is best living in the areas they call home. Both Mark and Hung are big believers in giving and that is what this wonderful Christmas holiday evening is all about.
