It’s Mother’s Day!
The day mother’s around the world get to celebrate all the hard work we do all year long and the joyous, wonderful upbringing of those little or big humans we call our children. But what does being a mom really mean?
Of course it means being a leader, a friend, a confidant, a listener, a guidance instructor, a wiper of the boogers and boo-boo’s for little ones, and a helping hand and lending ear for those big kids. It’s the journey we take barefoot across broken glass without band-aids, never complaining (MUCH) where laundry is on 7 days a week, we become master party planners, play-date coordinators, and diaper changers.
Being a mother is a beautiful thing. To watch, listen and let go of those little people as they take each step into that new horizon, arms wide-open, hearts full with laughter and love.
OH, WHO THE HELL AM I KIDDING?
HERE’S WHAT BEING A MOM REALLY MEANS!
It means never be able to take a bath by yourself or pee alone for longer for five seconds.
Where everyone in the house has tons of clothes but nothing to wear that’s clean.
A place where wearing Storm Trooper glasses is a fashion statement and knowing your Pokemon, Call of Duty, Star Wars characters, Toopy and Bino & how to play Mind Craft make you a God!
Where you are the wiper of boogers, cleaner-upper of socks and underwear, Dish Diva, Tree House expert and taxi driver.
Picking Kraft Dinner out of the dog’s fur after he permanently parked himself under the high chair.
Where bath time is more like swimming in your own large lake because more water ends up on the floor than in the tub (splash fun!)
Where your daily vocabulary goes like this…
- WHAT PART OF NO DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND
- I SAID SO,
- YOU CAN’T DO THAT,
- WHY DON’T YOU LISTEN?
- I’M IN CHARGE,
- GO TO YOUR ROOM,
- LISTENING EARS,
- KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOUR SELF,
- EAT YOUR DINNER,
- SAY SORRY,
Motherhood means knowing grocery shopping without kids is a mini vacation
And where you give yourself time-outs because if you don’t heads are gonna roll.
Where losing your shit does not imply an EMERGENCY BATHROOM BREAK!
Where the quickest way to get your kids attention is to sit down and look comfortable.
And never getting to talk on the phone because that’s the time kids choose to tell you about their day.
Where you are powered by love, fueled by coffee and sustained by wine!
All right — all right, we all know it’s no piece of cake but honestly — being a mother really is a great job, the best to have in the world.
So this Mother’s Day we want you to take some time out for yourself. Pamper yourself, lock the bathroom door, let the family fend for themselves, pee alone, take a bubble bath, go for a walk or hang out with some other mom’s because let’s face it, strength is numbers rocks!
Oh! And Happy Mother’s Day.
REMEMBER YOU AREN’T ALONE
