It’s everywhere you look. Some article. Some video showing creepy clowns attacking individuals across the United States and now here in British Columbia. And it needs to stop!
Clowns make balloons. They bring laughter to children. They are wonderful birthday surprises. Well not anymore. My son is absolutely terrified to even go trick-or-treating this year because the new threat is clowns planning on a purge right before Halloween night.
You know I’m all for a good scare. Hell. Stephen King’s IT is one of my favorite movies/books of all time. And yes, most of these clown sightings have turned out to be harmless, hoaxes, trouble causing with no real threat being involved. But does that make it all less scary?
It’s not illegal to dress up as a clown, but a person’s actions and how they carry out those actions is what causes concern for me as a parent.
This past week neighbors of mine reported a man standing in the open field behind our house wearing a mask and holding an ax in his hands. We went to look. Several people stopped on the sidewalk to stare at him. All he did was stand in the middle of the field holding a weapon and nothing else. But you know what he gave my son nightmares for the past three nights. Now he doesn’t even want to go to school.
This guy didn’t hurt anyone. And even though I know his main goal was probably just to be sighted and added to the clown portfolio. What he did affects others. It creates mass hysteria in a world where we don’t need it, I mean seriously don’t we have enough to worry about with Donald Trump running for president?
CLOWNS: You may think you are being funny, but you are damaging young children beyond repair by causing extreme anxiety and fear laden issues with these extremely irresponsible tactics. It’s a form of bullying and you need to stop.
Halloween has always been a day for children to enjoy. Now it’s become a nightmare for kids too afraid to even want to go outside or go trick or treating, afraid some clown is going to chase them, catch them and then hurt them. That’s just so wrong and so very sad.
What’s even worse is there are people going “Clown Hunting” even some of my teenage son’s friends headed to the local lake to see if they could spot any. Why? To beat them up. Yeah, that’s great. So not only are these clowns scaring the crap out of everyone, but now we have to worry about their safety as well because of their stupidity?
If you see a clown like Pennywise in a drain – okay run your little behind the other direction. Otherwise, please do not do anything dumb. Call your local police department and report any suspicious behavior leading up to Halloween and just to be safe, keep a watchful eye on your kids this year.
As for the clowns. Well. I hope their balloons pop fast and this over with soon. I can’t handle it. I mean seriously next thing you know it will killer elves from the North Pole on the loose ruining Christmas for us!
