This is one of those times when you’re sitting in bed, sifting through the television looking for something to watch, and a movie comes on. You aren’t really interested, but you end up engrossed in the film. That’s exactly what happened to me watching Atonement.
Atonement is a web weaved of betrayl, lust, love, romance, and a young girl’s misinterpretation of events that ends up having a negative impact on the lives of her older sister and a young man’s innocence.
Atonement: stars Kiera Knightley, James McAvoy, Brenda Blethyn and Saorise Ronan. I loved Knightly in her portrayal of Pride and Prejudice and Black Swan. She’s equally as amazing in this movie!
When a young girl sees events that lead her to believe a young man, her sisters lover to be guilty of raping their cousin, lives are torn apart. The story follows the lives and the mistakes made, choices and the power of emotion between a man and a woman where love holds no bounds.
I loved this movie! It was not only interesting and engaging but it was about something that seems to happen more often than not. Someone accused of doing wrong when they didn’t, and how it impacts their life. When they are innocent and having to pick up the pieces of their shattered existence and move on, I think is something we can all relate to in a way.
Although it seems at times this movie moves slowly, the power of the story is something worth watching. I’m glad I caught it on TV and it was a nice break my own life. So give Atonement a chance.
